Opportunity Title Habitat Restoration Internship

Theme
Climate Change and Sustainability

Description
Friends of Buford Park & Mt. Pisgah (FBP) plans and implements native habitat restoration and enhancement projects in the Mt. Pisgah area. We use a variety of techniques, such as native plant propagation, invasive species control, prescribed fire, survey and monitoring, and others to help restore and enhance native riparian, upland, and prairie habitats.
FBP’s native plant nursery is the primary source for native seed and plants used to enhance and restore these native habitats. Plant materials at the nursery have originated from the park and are adapted to specific local site conditions. Many of the plants are not available from any other source. Nursery work will be a significant part of the internship. Interns will also have the opportunity to visit a variety of habitat types in the park and learn to identify both native and non-native plant species.
Student interns generally work under supervision of staff and/or lead volunteers.
