Description
The overall goal of the volunteer program is to give individuals a broad experience in community recreation with persons with disabilities and assist instructors. Volunteers are expected to work with program instructors, and other volunteers and interns through a team approach in providing quality services and activities to individuals enrolled in classes at Hilyard Community Center.

Dates and Times when volunteers are most needed
Monday through Sunday, 9am to 6pm
Minimum Commitment Level Ten Weeks (One Quarter)
Limitations or Restrictions Volunteers need to demonstrate a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and contribute, and ability to help create safe, fun and respectful recreational activities for persons of all abilities and pocess a desire to assist instructors.

Mission
Adaptive Recreation is the primary provider of community recreation services for persons with disabilities in Lane County. It is based in the Hilyard Community Center, a fully accessible facility owned and operated by the city of Eugene. Program services include recreation programs designed to serve people with disabilities, individual and group skill training, adaptive equipment and resource and referral assistance. Every program encourages people with disabilities to take part in community recreation through a variety of activities including: classes and special events, resource information, help with registration and providing assistance for inclusion in classes offered through Youth and Family Services, and the Citys Aquatic programs.
